POLL: Are you effected by the current prices of gasoline. If so, how?

Will the prices interfere with your driving? Will you cut back on your purchases? What are your cleaver hints to save money?

Yes; I don't drive nearly as much as I used to. To save money I'll probably have to buy a horse.

I drive less bec it costs 70$ a tankful of 18-20 gals. I skipped going somewhere over the Memorial Day weekend. Also it seems food prices are rising as prices are higher bec vendors charge higher prices for the same quantities or else the amounts and sizes of the packages have dropped in size while prices are kept the same. My car gets 20mpg in city 25mpg on the highway. Around here in Houston(4th largest US city)mass transit system is mostly buses and it takes forever to get somewhere esp when a route change is required. Weather is humid and is steadily above 90 degrees F. My electric bills are very high and have forced me to keep the A/C set temp at 82 rather than 78!

Source(s): I think oilco's and OPEC are price gouging and they try to tell us it's nothing they are doing or that they can't change--yet both are happier than pigs in mud making 3$/gal pure profit! And You know OPEC producers are curtailing oil exports to the extent you and I drive less! The oilco CEO's and OPEC Arab Sheiks and that guy Chavez in Venezuela meanwhile are living large while we, who should have forced the USgov long ago to adopt an energy policy that moves us away from petroleum from either OPEC or the OILCO's!(that was the purpose of the USDept of Energy created by President Carter unti Reagan,Clinton and the Bushes took office), suffer economically. We are in the midst of someone's war on the industrialized world but we don't seem to get it and the mass news media doesn't seem able to explain it. Ther is no mystery if you know the oil industry!! The oil industry is still stuck in the 19th Century and our car companies are still pushing early 20th century gas-guzzling hunks of metal!

I work for myself at home and yes high gas prices have affected my family. I only fill my car up once a month. That's $45.00 a month right now with gas at $3.97 a gallon. Anymore, I feel as if every time I feel my car up, I might as well just set my money on fire and burn it, because that's all it is doing when I fill my car up eventually its all burned up and needs a refill. What a waste!!!!

I'm afraid to go on vacation this year because, how much will it cost for the darn gas? Vacation Canceled? I really want a nice family vacation my children deserve it.

I hate the high prices of everything. I guess it will stop when God has had enough and steps in.

even though I work at home, I still had to cut back. I wanted to drive 300miles to visit my immediate family for Memorial Day, but I just didn't see it worth the expense. Everyone is cutting back. Walking more. You'll probably see more bike ridings than ever in urban areas. That will kinda be a good thing though for the summer. Can't help but lose weight trying to cut back. Cooking more with fresh veggies and less processed food is another plus side. Maybe not organic, since that's more expensive, but more homecooking will always save your wallet.

I think everyone is affected by the high cost of gas. The price of fuel is changing how much and how far I drive. It's also affecting my grocery bill quite a bit. I set my cruise control when I'm on the highway and drive less aggressively. I also have made sure my tires are properly inflated and I've kept up on my maintenance to make sure I'm getting the best mileage I can.

right here is the ingredient: speculators have self belief the cost is going to circulate up, so as that they purchase futures and sell for a income. in the event that they're incorrect concerning to the marketplace, they lose a team of money. the only effect they have is to delicate out fee ameliorations that could take place besides - fee progressively will develop somewhat of spiking to an more advantageous point, and progressively decreases somewhat of bottoming out. hypothesis does not value you something interior the long term. via the way, did you recognize that 40 8.a million cents according to gallon of gas is going to taxes?

I'm just thinking more before I spend money lately. I'm cooking more and eating out less. I'm more careful about my casual spending. I comparison shop more than I used to. Really, the positive side is that the gas prices are making me smarter about my money. I resent having to pay the $4.05 per gallon, but where I live, public transportation is a joke. I have to drive to work, so I have to buy gas. Thankfully, I have a fuel efficient car!

Everyone is affected by the price of gasoline. Even if you don't drive, you're paying higher costs in food, clothing...pretty much the cost of anything you purchase has risen, because of the gasoline prices.

Yes. My husband is a general contractor and drives a diesel work truck. The price of diesel is higher than the price for premium unleaded, even though diesel is supposed to be cheaper to make! It's making it much more expensive for him to get back and forth to work - and he really can't use "mass transit", kind of hard to lug your air compressor, nail guns, etc onto the bus.

As for me, my daughter attends a school where there is no bus transportation provided, so I have to drive her to school

    everyday.

Plus, I noticed how much groceries have increased, which is a direct result of the higher cost of trucking the stuff to the stores and the cost of fertilizer.

Yes to a degree. I'm not struggling for money but I have to spend more on everything at the store. I don't see too many of the great bargains like I used to. In Chicago the gas is already nearing $4.50 for regular.

Everyone is affected by the high cost of gasoline!

It affects the pockets, first & foremost.

I have a small 6-cylinder SUV and I just put $70.00 in it two days ago & it's almost gone!

How I would love to have put at least $35.00 in my savings account, but it just won't happen, unfortunately!
