Does anyone know of any good books for high school, soon to be going to college, teens?

Books by authors such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, or William Shakespeare?

Well, the only Dickens book I remembering reading during my high school years was A Tale of Two Cities. But I would also recommend some of the other very popular ones, such as Great Expectations, The Adventures of Oliver Twist, and perhaps even ones like A Christmas Carol. Really, any of his books will be an intelligent, profound read.

As for Jane Austen, I only remember her Pride and Prejudice being a mandatory read in my high school. With her, as well, though, you could really read any of her books if you're looking for an intelligent read. You could read her Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Persuasion, and many of her others.

I distinctly remember reading countless Shakespeare plays in high school. If you have not already read them, I would certainly suggest his Julius Caesar, Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and perhaps A Midsummer's Night Dream. Just as I have said for the other authors, though, you could really pick many others, for they will also be profound reads.

The suggestions I made were mainly based on the books I remember being mandatory reads in my high school throughout my four years of English, since you are obviously a high school student. But don't let anyone's suggestions limit you. Read as many of the works of these authors as you can, for they are some of the most renowned and respectable authors...

And if you're looking for other authors and books, perhaps also read Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. I personally did not really care too much for that book, but that doesn't mean it isn't a profound read. Also, things like Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans, Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and his The Adventures of Tom Sawyer...All of these are common books written by renowned authors and read by high school and college students...

    Best wishes!

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells & Queen of Babble) and Sophie Kinsella's (Shopaholic [soon to be movie] & Remember Me) books. I am in the process of reading Emily Giffin's (Something Borrowed & Something Blue) books. They are all great authors!

For I teen I recommend Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.
