Yes, I heard about it on NPR. It's tragic, yes, but it was due to a freak accident which happens all the time with horses. We will likely never know just what it was that spooked Teddy and set him off- and my heart goes out to Karen and David. This has been such a heartbreaking, AWFUL year for them both, with all the injuries and deaths- keep in mind that David lost another top horse a couple of weeks ago, when Tigger Too had an aneurysm and died on course at the Jersey Fresh CCI **. That was just a freak accident too, only in this case, it may have been due to the horse's age- he was 17 years old. I don't understand why we have had so many tragedies involving horses and their riders this spring. It's getting to the point where I hear about one almost every day or every few days- and I have to wonder why.
RIP Teddy and Tigger- and a good journey across the Rainbow Bridge to both of you.

Source(s): Theodore O'Connor was humanely euthanized today, May 28, after injuring himself as a result of an accident sustained at Karen and David O'Connor's barn. "'Teddy' got frightened and bolted. He slipped running back to the barn and suffered a severe laceration to his hind leg, severing the tendons and ligaments. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
