I would rate him an 9, he does a few things that put him on a higher tier than most rappers, like being able to convey a story through his music (Big Brother, Through The Wire for example), his music usually has a message, and uses good metaphor(Never Let Me Down, Homecoming). However his one shortcoming is that despite doing all of this 95% of the time he includes a large portion of him telling the audience that he is the greatest thing to ever grace the earth, and this arrogance really detracts from his music.

Kanye West is a Ten pertaining to talent.

He is his own promoter. You see him in Overseas a great deal and his records are selling there too.

He is a musical genius. He makes his own instrumentals, write lyrics, sings and raps hip hop rhymes.

This man speaks the truth but sometimes his music is too feminen and aimed at a different audience than otherwise thought. being from Chi-Town (Chicago) I thought he'd be coming with that Crucial Conflict, (Adrenaline Rush Age)-> Twista, Do or Die sound. But nah...Sounds good though.

He is not a rapper anymore to me; Now he is a Pop Star.

First two albums a 10. Graduation gets a 5. An album that only has 13 three minute songz doesnt deserve that much praise.
