For some reason, some people use butter... Do NOT use butter as it makes it worse. Instead, follow the following steps:

(NOTE: The following may cause pain and/or irritation, but, it will be better in the long run, once the burn clears up. If needed, you could take an acetaminophen pill, or a nonsterodial anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as Advil™, to minimize or neutralize the pain).

    * Take a cool bath or shower. Adding 1/2 cup (about 120 milliliters) of cornstarch, oatmeal or baking soda to your bath water may provide some relief.

    * Apply an aloe vera lotion several times a day.

    * Leave blisters intact to speed healing and avoid infection. If they burst on their own, apply an antibacterial ointment on the open areas.

    * If needed, take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Aleve) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, others). Don't give children or teenagers aspirin. It may cause Reye's syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal disease.

Do not use petroleum jelly, butter or other home remedies on your sunburn. They can prevent or delay healing.

If your sunburn begins to blister or if you experience immediate complications, such as rash, itching or fever, see your doctor.

    Hope this helps.

    Get well soon.

Cool compresses often to the face. Advil as directed to decrease the swelling. Benedryl or claritin as directed to help with the itching.

Call the doctor and ask for a prescription of Silvadene. Tell him you have a bad sunburn, you are peeling and in pain. Keep the medicine refrigerated and apply a small amount evenly over the burned area twice a day. (if you have a Sulfa allergy don't use this medicine).

lastly, keep your face clean; cleanse gently with aveeno twice a day. Infection can really make this burn a problem for you.

Do not go tanning with this medicine on your face. It will cause a discoloration that could be permanent.

Silvadene is a medication that is used in burn care. Really a very good medicine, soothing and has an antibiotic benefits.

Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking as this causes the vessels to later dilate and come to the skins surface to cool off and irritate the burn.

    Be well soon Ash.

Are you sure you did not use the kind of aloe vera that may be not pure? Aloe is the #1 cure for sun burns, so i have no idea how to help you. Try another Aloe Vera product. Make sure when you put it on it should sting a little because of the reaction, but it should heal the sunburn eventually. Bear with it! Hope you feel better!

There are two things I will suggest for you. First is pure aloe vera, and you must get it at your health food store, not at Wal-mart or places like that. You need pure whole leaf aloe vera skin gel and it has vitamins a, c, and e in it. Next, although this may sound gross, get you an avacado and if you have a blender, make a paste out of it and chill it. Put it on your face two or three times a day for about ten minutes each time, follow it by the aloe vera. Avacado's are VERY good for the skin and if you chill it a little it will take out the burn in your face, plus it makes your face very smooth. Do this for a couple of days and I bet you it will get better and feel alot better. Good Luck

Aloe Vera is really good, but what I use, is Aveeno body wash, sensitive skin. wash your face with it and let it set for a few minutes before washing it off. Aveeno helps take the sting out, also it helps replace moisture. You can find it at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc....

Find an actual Aloe Vera plant .. Some of the cleans and lotions that say Aloe Vera aren't that pure .. they have dye's and fragrances .. find an actual plant .. only way to guaranty 100 % Pure !!
