Remove Elastic Waistband or disable it?
Is there a way to stretch elastic or heat it or chemically disable it from a jacket waistband without removing the stiches and taking it out? It's stitched to the fabric so I can't just cut it. I think I'll ruin the jacket if I try to take it out and re-sew it. I tried ironing it but it didn't work.

if you stretch it far enough it will break, but be carful you dont stretch it too hard, or you might break the pants themselves.
i have a pair of pajama pants with an elastic waist band and yeah, my fiance tried wrestleing me one day (not to hurt me, he wouldnt ever do that) and he got a hold of my waist band and it broke after he stretched it to a certain point
