Anyone else think that incorrect answers (in fact-based Qs) should be dis-allowed as BA?

I'm not talking about opinion-based Qs & As here so please don't go there.

Update:

Beatle Fanatic: It has been suggested that Universitys (around the world) might be interested in volunteering this research as part of there courses.

Susan Angelina: I'm not talking about eliminating opinion-based Qs & As.

Update 2:

Dang, just had my coffee - "Universities" and "their".

Update 3:

IMO: An incorrect fact-based answer is a non-answer.

I agree but how could they do that?

Is yahoo going to review every question asked from all over the World and have someone look up the correct answers somewhere? There are hundreds of questions everyday just in R&P just in the U.S. Yahoo. There's a different version of Yahoo for every country!

I can understand being frustrated when a totally lame answer gets chosen as Best. I've had that happen several times ... I go to the trouble of putting some thought and research into my answer, and some smartypants wisecrack gets chosen as Best. I try to be philosophical about it: If the asker is ill-informed enough to choose a bad answer as Best, and then act on the advice it gave, that's their problem.

Also consider that it really isn't messing **you** up that much. You still get your 2 points for putting in your 2 cents' worth. The ten points for Best Answer would be the icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

You could try leaving a comment on the question after it's resolved, though. Just say **diplomatically** that the Best Answer missed the mark. But there's no guarantee that the asker, let alone anyone else, will read your comment.

Another thing you can do is leave a thumbs-down on the lame-o "Best" Answer (it would be better to do that in addition to leaving a comment). As with leaving a comment, there's no guarantee that anyone will notice, but at least you'll feel a little better.

EDIT - as it turns out, I have a recent example of what I mean. See the link below.

Yes, that might work IF the site was by "invitation only".

However, Yahoo!Answers is a Public Site and therefore the task of keeping the site "fact based" would be an unrealistic goal.

And, yes, I did read your entry in the Yahoo!Answers Suggestion Board (Forum).

Uh, how do you think this could possibly be accomplished?

Do you mean that they'd be reportable or something? That would just be even more open to abuse. And there'd be no way to limit it to "opnion-based" qs.
