Well, "ohana" means family; but certainly more than just a group of people who happen to be related. It declares the bond of the family; much like "familia" in Spanish.

"Manawa" means a time or season. Also a location on the head.

I've never seen them used together without other words in between.

Of course, I don't actually speak Hawaiian. Hope somebody answers your question a little better.

It probably means the family with the last name Manawa. The modifier generally follows the noun in Hawaiian.

i couldn't find a meaning for manawa ohana...maybe there's some missing text? they could be trying to say something like family time. good luck with figuring this out. maybe i'll ask my cousin what it means and edit the answer if she knows. she was smart to go and learn our language...i was lazy at the time and totally regret it now!! it's not too late but all my resources are in hawaii...like my uncle who is a teacher at a hawaiian school.

    take care and aloha!!

edit...so, i talked to my dad and cousin and they both say that it's probably just the manawa family reppin' their last name. usually we would put the last name before ohana...like the manawa ohana. i dunno what the context of your sentence is exactly or if that's all that was said so we are just assuming it's just a way of saying the manawa family is representing who they are.
