So who will win now that Serena is out?

I actually thought Serena was going to win even if Henin hadn’t retired. Sharapova is still rusty while other players are playing like crazy. I don’t blame them either. Henin opened the doors and they should play like it’s their last game. Lol. Who do you think will win?

Update:

I'm going for Kutnesova (sp).

I also thought that Serena was going to win, but only because Justine retired. Justine beat her in 3 consecutive grandslams last year.

Anyway, I would like Maria to win, I hope that doesn't make me a racist. But I think Safina will win. Just a hunch.

I always believed Serena could easily win another French even if Justine still was playing too. But since she's out I definitely wouldn't pick Sharapova because she's barely hanging on, and she seems like she's tired already. Overall I'd have to go with Ivanovic first, then Jankovic, and third I pick Kuznetsova as for my dark horses probably somebody who's just solid on clay and could make an impact like Safina or Dementieva.

If Safina beat Sharapova (hopefully not) she might win it. Otherwise it will be Sharapova-Jankovic final and Maria will be the winner... Maria seems to win when she had hard time playing on first 2 rounds (Aussie Open 2007 & 2008, Doha etc...) Maria lost 7 games (most) in Aussie Open.

It is now officially between Svetlana Kuznetsova And Ana Ivanovic. I am not too sure of Mari Sharapova. I mean to say that she being the top seed and the first two rounds bein g a three setter for her is not great play.If she shows her aussie open form , then she might prove difficult to play.Maria and her almost spin less and variety-less play is not impressive and can not make her capture the tittle.Ana Ivanovic is going good and Kuznetsova is already an established clay court player. Its now between the two of them.Jelena Jankovic - don't think so

all top seeds had struggled to played and serve better... with Serena, Venus, bartoli and chakvetadze out.. so, among top 10 seeds, ivanovic, jankovic, and kuznetsova

won in straight sets in all matches... while dementieva played in 3 sets during the first round, sharapova back to back 3 sets matches against lower opponents... schnyder also played in 3 sets... while jankovic also had trouble as she played a tie breaker in first and second round... ivanovic struggled but still managed to win in straight sets.. kuznetsova still perfect..

also safina, zvonareva, radwanska, azarenka and petrova can win it.. so, i will go to ivanovic, jankovic and kuznetsova..

    Jelena Djokovic.

I'll pick Ivanovic but Jankovic haven't been playing badly. Kuznetsova is playing well too.Really its a hard call.U never know, Sharapova might play her way into form.

But i would like to see one Ivanovic win.I think she's due for a slam now.If she does her ratings are gonna shoot through the roof and Sharapova will be officially replaced as the glamour gal of tennis.

It's either Dinara Safina, Svetlana Kuznetsova, or my dark horse pic -- Flavia Pennetta.

id love to see sharapova win and get ahead in the rankin now that henin retired, she should take advantage. she just needs to play like she played in the australian open earlier this year and she should be able to win this..

you know,i'm still faithful in my initial picks.....jelena and sveta but i am beginning to lean more to svetlana! sveta has played the strongest of anybody in this tournament so far. she's won all of her matches in pretty comfortable straights whilst maria, ana and jelena have all looked a bit off. everybody was writing her off before RG began, because of her lead-up performances but she's really bounced herself back into form.
