Can you make an offer on a house before your mortgage is sorted out?
I'm living in the UK, first time buyer and really don't know much about buying etc. I've seen a house that I really like, but I know someone else is interested in it and I'm worried they'll get in with an offer before I do. Unfortunately, my mortgage isn't actually sorted out yet - I'm waiting for a letter from my employer confirming my salary when I start my new job in August - and without that I can't get a mortgage agreement. The letter should HOPEFULLY arrive within the next few days.
So I was just wondering whether I could make an offer on the house without actually having a mortgage agreement yet?

Talk to the loan officer you are using and ask if they feel you are well qualified for the loan and obtaining the salary letter is just a formality that will be satisfactory.
