Any legal grounds concerning my brothers death?..?

I posted this earlier but I guess it came out the wrong way, so here it is more refined and accurate.

1. My brother and three friends were driving around, two men attempted to car jack them - shot the driver, beat my brother in the face with a pistol.

2. The person in the back seat had a gun in the car that was registered to him, it was never fired because the suspects were fleeing.

3. The cops arrest my brother and his friend as the shooter, the gun was never even fired once.

4. They lock him up in a holding cell, he went blind in one eye and was still denied medical treatment. His friend is witness to this fact.

5. He went to the doctor after being bailed out, was Rx'ed medications and given a referral for X-Rays. She said he had multiple face and head fractures, as well as a concussion.

6. He died in his sleep that night, coroner ruled it from the medication. They never even checked his head injury.

He was denied treatment and would be alive if not...

Update:

He was complaining also that the pain would not go away even with the medication. If he would have been put in the hospital after the incident, he would have been able to get the treatment he needed and would still be alive in my opinion.

Update 2:

Also, he would have never even had to take medication if he was put in the hospital like he should have been.. Thanks to the police my brother is dead..

why do you ask for advice in a forum like this......just hire an attorney......

Many people here are telling you to find an attorney. You do need an attorney, but make sure they are civil attorneys specializing in wrongful death and/or suing government agencies.

I would interview several attorneys before signing on with one.

Many will take this case with no upfront fee, on a contingency basis (being paid only if you win).

It sounds like you have a case.

The police were in the right to detain your brother if they felt that he was a part of the shooting. They did not have the right to deny him medical treatment once they arrested him. This is where the liability occurs.

You've made the mistake many people do with right on red. You confused what "you always do" with what the law and polite people will do. Many people think pulling into traffic just means "as long as I'm in the road, he'll stop." See that is the definition of an "unsafe" right on red, you made the person brake to not hit you. The law permitting you to run red lights in this situation is designed to be used only when there isn't any traffic. "safe distance" The distance here depends on your driving, whether you get up to speed in time, not how much space you had. "the conditions on that day were partly cloudy" All this does is admits that you are guilty and should not have made this turn. If you can't see the traffic, obviously, you shouldn't be blowing off the light.

Find a really good lawyer who understands how the police treat alleged suspects. And also one who understands the nuances of negligent police behaviour.

This is definitely a case that should be reviewed by a civil trial lawyer. Refer to your phone book. Usually the best civil trial lawyers advertise on the back cover of the phone book.---------------------Good Luck.
