Why would people in Florida and Michigan vote Repub. in protest when the RNC also halved their delegations?
Everyone seems to have forgotten that the RNC also stripped Florida and Michigan of half of their delegates (not to mention a few other states - Wyoming, New Hampshire, and South Carolina ) - for violating their rules and holding primaries before February 5th.

Granted, you could argue that the RNC rules of stripping half the delegates are better than the DNC rules of stripping all of the delegates. But the DNC has now said they will allow for half of the delegates (or rather, all the delegates but with half a vote each).
So I understand how you could think the primary process is ridiculous and broken - I agree - and how you could be angry at your state parties for breaking the rules and making your vote count for less - I would be angry too - but I don't understand how, at this point, you could vote Republican in protest here given that both parties did the same thing.
I'm not trying to make a partisan pro-Obama support. I like both democratic candidates and would vote for virtually any democrat against McCain.
The only argument that makes sense to me is that having your vote count less when it is really meaningful matters more than when it is not meaningful. But that argument basically means that it would be ok to disenfranchise republican voters in Vermont or democratic voters in Utah. It also implies that counting the extra delegates would actually change the results of the race, which it wouldn't - Obama would still have the elected delegate lead. If it put Hillary over the top in elected delegates maybe that would be a different story, but that is an alternative universe.
Dani G - point well taken. The politics forum is probably the biggest time-waster in the world, which is why I enjoy it - I take it that you spend most of your time answering or asking more important questions like how to wire a circuitboard or whether my F-1 Visa status allows me to hold off-campus employment. Bravo!

it's called "playing right into the republicans hands". it was a republican govenor in FL that screwed up the DNC rules and allowed the state to hold early primaries, knowing that it would keep democrats at each other's throat's while mccain slips his wrinkled butt on into the white house. the republicans are cerebral assisians and are very capable of planning out every move that democrats make and then finish them with a counter move that will annialiate the party. i hope people realize what's going on here. conspiracy or not, this has been the game plan of the republicans every since they figured out that bush and his policies could cost them the house. they will stop at nothing!

It's a childish argument and they should just get over it and vote for whoever Democrat is running in November.
And get off Yahoo!Answers..... and get on the real campaign trail... behind a Democratic candidate (which will be Obama).

Just shows how slow they are. It shows how some are throwing temper tantrums, etc. All of the Clinton supporters won't be that way, but some will. They are voting against their own interest and that's fine. Just don't do any complaining if they get tired of living under another republican. Just suck it up.
