Frustrated with dog?
I bought a pomeranian a few months ago and she's nothing like my male pom. She doesn't come when I call her. In fact, she runs the other way. With my male pom, he always came to me when I call him, even on the first day when he was a puppy. I know different dog has different personalities. I have to admit she's very timid. What should I do? I notice alot of female pom have this timid characteristic while the male pom are very sociable and friendly. Any advice?
My dog is use to my home. She's been here since April 4th. How much more time does she need? It's been 2 months. The hot dog idea sounds great! Thanks!

Try giving her a treat when you see her! They usually love biscuits, and more than a biscuit, they love pieces of cut up hot dog, hot or cold will do.
Personally in your situation, I would probably go with the hot dog, they can really smell that, offer it to her, after awhile she will associate you with giving her a hot dog, She will come to you!!! Try it !!

I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback that's very similar in that manner.. When leaving the dog park and I call her, she normally turns tail and runs away. A good technique I have learned is teaching her the command "Stay" or "Sit" which allows me to approach her.
As for your dog, I'd recommend taking her to meet new dogs cautiously and keep an eye on her in the process. If there is nothing for her to be afraid of, then you should let her know that by praising any sociable energy. If the timidness is encouraged by any act of dominance by your male dog, it is in your best interest to keep him in order. If you have questions on how, please update your question and I will answer again.
