E mail from unspecified sender: how it is possible to send an email without from id?

In my outlook express I am regularly receiving blank e mails from unspecified receptionists: the ISP like airtel, sify are also not filtering these e mails: Please explain

    It is called E-mail spam. It happens to me too. I just delete it that is what my ISP told me to do
