If Obama pulls out of Iraq.......?

If Obama pulls the troops out of Iraq, there will be a bloodbath. History will already judge Bush accordingly for getting us into this mess, but what will Obama's legacy be if he pulls out prematurely and allows a genocide to take place?

Even Obama knows that he can't yank every soldier out of Iraq. What candidates say on the campaign trail and what they do in real life are two entirely different things. If they said we were to pull out this instant, it would still take 18 months to remove everyone. I think what will happen is Obama will pull out a few batallions and then just quietly stop. (If he wins the election of course.) Anyways, if he did yank everyone out and Iraq becomes a hot mess, then the Republicans would have ammunition enough to regain control of the white house.

Well, if we hadn't been there in the first place, we wouldn't be placing the next President in the unenviable position of having to extricate us from the debacle caused by the previous administration.

And your pronouncement that "there will be a bloodbath" is based, no doubt on your extensive knowledge and experience in foreign affairs, right?

No matter when we leave Iraq, there will be "ehtnic cleansing". The Sunnis hate the Shiites and they both hate the Kurds, and everybody in that country hates the jews and to some extent the Christians. And you're saying we should stay until the antipathy of 1400 years is resolved and they all sit around a campfire of camel dung singing kumbaya?

I'm assuming that you, and your children, and your children's children are willing to pay for it and support it with your admirable volunteering for service.

Whether we get out next week or next century, the result will be the same.

This reminds me of something else I heard from the right...

"...we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."

Source: Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, CNN (9/8/2002).

"But the risk of doing nothing, the risk of the security of this country being jeopardized at the hands of a madman with weapons of mass destruction far exceeds the risks of any action we may be forced to take."

Source: President Meets with National Economic Council, White House (2/25/2003).

"On its present course, the Iraqi regime is a threat of unique urgency. . . . it has developed weapons of mass death."

Source: President, House Leadership Agree on Iraq Resolution, White House (10/2/2002).

"The history, the logic, and the facts lead to one conclusion: Saddam Hussein's regime is a grave and gathering danger. To suggest otherwise is to hope against the evidence."

Address to the United Nations General Assembly, White House (9/12/2002).

And we all know how reliable those statements were.

They were wrong on that--I'm betting that if we leave, things calm down pretty quickly. No bloodbath.

Besides, they've got to pick up the mantle and handle things on their own sometime. We can't stay there forever.

Patriot--what is a "liberal"? You guys define "liberal" as everything to the left of Atilla the Hun, apparently.

Vietnam seems to have done well since US withdrawal.

What makes Iraq so special? How many congressional daughters and sons are serving in Iraq? Who is benefiting from the spending.

Mainstream America needs to invest in itself to restore integrity to government and infrastructure.

Fratricide and genocide occur on American streets every day. Where is the initiative to address domestic social issues?

If President George W. Bush is ever judged, it will be for treason.

If troops are pulled out now, the bloodbath of American soldiers will stop. A civil war is a civil war -- not genocide. They don't need a babysitter, just like the U.S. didn't need one during its civil war. Both Sunnis and Shias are killing Al Qaeda members. They have their own government. They have their own police and military. They also have a healthier economy than the U.S. now. They should be sending foreign aid to us instead of the way its going now.

It's interesting that you would want to talk to Samson, seeing as how he was the original suicide martyr who sacrificed himself to kill many.

Civil unrest - what you call genocide - in Iraq will only be the first step. Iran will invade Iraq. Other countries in the Mideast will take sides, drawing the rest of the world into the melee. In the end the US will need to go back, but at a much higher cost in lives and treasure. It will be a mess.

Not an Obama supporter, but what makes you think there will be a bloodbath? Especially when many Iraqi's are wanting us out and their country back.

Is it the record breaking number of 200 insurgents US forces had surrounded last month? The reason for the bloodbath now is because WE ARE THERE.

You should sign up for the Army and go die for this cause if feel so adamant about staying in Iraq. Otherwise, shut your mouth because our troops are there dying for NO REASON.

You must be General Pantsinawad. What are you doing wasting your time on Y/A? You seem to know so much about what will happen in Iraq, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you either be on the ground in Iraq or in DC advising the "president"?

Oh, and lets not forget who actually caused this problem...

    dubya (tee eff) himself.

  • P_ssy A_ _ Obama cause the Middle East to go up in smoke.
