If someone is rude or insulting to you, how long do it usually take you to get over it?

I've got a pretty hot temper. I usually will insult right back and then feel like I'm vindicated and move on..............

And nobody gets a second chance with me, I usually just kick them to the curb, like garbage.

Depends on how rude they were and what kind of mood I am already in. This past weekend I was in Target looking at Father's Day cards and this woman pushed my cart without saying anything or looking at me. She just came out of no where and pushed it into people walking by, and i had my things in it! She should have asked if she could move it or if I would have, and it would have been no problem! I was a little fumed but kept my cool and it only took me about a minute or two to get if out of my system. I figure people that are rude or insulting are just really having a bad day or are just unhappy with their own lives. Then, i start to feel sorry for them instead of feeling anger.

About 2-7 days. I'm usually more mad at myself either for not saying something or the wrong thing. Then I try to figure out what this person was thinking. It feels like they're saying,"you don't matter. You're worthless. Who cares about your needs? You might as well do us all a favor and kill yourself!" I know I take it much to personally but that's because of my depression and my low self-esteem. I want to be liked and respected by everyone but I know that's not possible. I don't like and respect everyone either! Oh yeah, when it is a friend who does something really rude, like drive on my lawn when she could use the driveway or steal food from my parents, in a way, I never get over it.

Depends on how I feel. I have some "mental" problems. If I'm on the wrong med, I don't let anything go( though I should). Lately, I seem to be on a good combination of medicines, so I usually forget insults in a few hours and I just walk away from people.

Depends on whether I have to bite my tongue (it's a supervisor or someone I can't risk offending) or not. If I can't speak up, it can rankle me for years. Not every day for years, but if I happen to think about it 5 years later, I may still feel pissed off at them. I've been both blessed and cursed with a good memory.

If it is someone I can speak to about it, I let them know they hurt me as soon as I'm not so hurt, and when I think they'll be open to hearing that they hurt my feelings.

If it's a stranger I tell them off pretty much right away. ;)

Sometimes, depending on how bad it was, never...but usually just an hour or so.

The one incident I don;t think I'll ever get over was when I was on a double date with a couple of friends of mine and one of them took out this actor's girlfriend, he had dumped ehr and she was depressed but I could see why he did she was the nastiest skank ho b*tch I have ever met. I LOATHED her but was very polite because of my friends. Anyway, she was droning on and on about something with him (she thought she was all that because of this relationship and you shou8ld see the actor, what an ugly pig) and I was looking out the window wondering how I was going to make it through the night without killing her and she started SNAPPING her FINGERS in my FACE!!!! I turned around and looked at her and she said PAY ATTENTION! Then she went on with her story...she is so lucky murder is against the law.

She was on my back all night, needling me, but I am proud to say I survived without incident and never had to see her again. I don't think I've ever hated anyone as much as I hated her.

I for one am an idiot so I bottle things up for years and never really get over it, the mest thing for me is reliving stress by playing games or just going to a walk, I am still bugged about highschool and its been 10 years. Just go have some fun and forget about the bad times.

I don't need any time to get over it, because I don't really care what anyone else thinks about me.

If someone is rude and insulting, why would I waste my precious time worrying about what they said/did?

Why give them so much power over me and my life?

For me it takes lik 5 minutes because if I got insulted from someone I know well I'll attack back and HARD! lol But if it's someone I don't know that well or don't know at all I suck it in realy hard and feel bad for days! lol I'm kinda weak when it comes to rude stuff.

A Looooooong time. I can get 10 compliments and one insult in one day and all I'll remember will be the insult.
