What is the SR in the middle of some tire sizes equivalent to?
I just bought a 1967 Volvo 122s and I need to buy all new tires for it, the tires it has on now are 165/SR15 tires. What does the SR in the middle mean? Also where can I buy some of these tires?

Those are old tires!Back then the speed rating was part of the tire size. The s speed rating meant the tire was good for 112 mph continuous speeds at the maximum load. The new tires you buy won't say that anymore. Now they will probably something like p165/15r

165SR15 is a seriously outdated tire size although there are still a very few tires out there. You might want to hunt down a tire called the Vredestein Sprint - its Dutch with some distribution in the U.S.
The "SR" means two different things. The "S" is the tires Speed Rating, which indicates what speed it can maintain under test conditions (112mph if you must know).
The "R" means the tire is of Radial construction.
