I need ideas for my vacation........HELP?

Funds of course now adays a low and this is the first year in 10years of being a parent and wife hat i am planning a family vacation. i wanted to try and rent a timeshare for a few days but this just isn't working for me. I live in the washington,d.c. / baltimore area so i know that i can take the kids to the national zoo for free and the smithsonian museums for free, along with the beach, but after that what else is there. Mind you my sister and I are trying to plan this together and haven't got a clue ages for our children run from 7months up to 14 years old 3 girls 2 boys. Keep in mind we are toting a baby we can't go to amusement parks or theme parks because bot the baby and my sister suffer from xtreme heat stroke... ANY SUGGESTIONS? ALL HELP WELCOMED :)

Update:

thanks to all that answered but please keep in mind were are almost close to broke we can't go over seas it must be some where on the east coast that we can drive to within 4-7 hours tops.

I would suggest somewhere in Greece , there are many sites to visit and waterparks where your younger and older children would love, your sister could also stay out of the heat.I have been many times and have loved it more and more each time ,try Lesvos,Crete or Rhodes there are also loads of donkey rides to beaches that happen early morning or evenng where you can watch the sun go down.

  • WOW! LOL you got yourself a handful! The zoo the beach the museum are great! Stay in the shade, get yourselves a canape or huge umbrella stay hydrated!! I went to Ocean City a couple years ago and I didn't spend that much.. All we spent was for the Rental of a Beach home and of course food!! Who ever has the heat problem could stay closer to the home! There is tons of stuff to do there! I'm thinking about going back this year! But I'm not to familiar with your area.. But those first suggestions sounds like loads of fun for the kids... how bout picnics Pack sandwiches sodas...You can also do a bunch of (volley ball, Base Ball, Barbecue,) and have bunch of activities! I would of loved that growing up!! The trick is keep those kids active while not having to watch em every second on a vacation.... Look for parks you could post up at and have fun..... Camping maybe also , but that might be a little to adventurous since you have a little one... Hope I helped!

hi.. try to see if there are indoor water parks near you. some you can stay on premesis ( sp).. if you & your sisiter are sharing the expense, thats good. yo8 guys can maybe get less rooms, and have the adults in each room, and the 3rd room, for the kids that are old enough & doors connect. The indoors would be fun, and good. even w. the sad heat stroke incedents, they can stay indoors when neeed, and usually they have more on spot to do indoors w. the indoor water parks..mini gulf, game rooms.. bike riding close by.. good luck & have a great time where ever you go.

    happiness always .

(just read others.. um, i guess they missed, moneys short.., some just have it made I guess. you'll have a great time , you'll figure it out. )

Sounds like your already got some good plans for free. Have you got a pool in your yard? This will keep kids active all summer long without leaving home. Of course there is the care of it involved. A local library might be a good idea also. They may have more ideas for you there.

the best thing is to go camping. I know that you probably don't want to do the whole tent and fire camping, but if you get a cabin in a national park somewhere it could be fun. There are lakes and rivers to fish and canoe on. There are trails to hike, fires to build, and it is quality time with your family.

    Noooo..

Go to the Outer Banks, NC.

    It's never crowded there,

and it doesn't get really hot.

The beach is calm and clean.

There is a very nice aquarium, and they have these HUGE sand dunes called Jockey's Ridge right by the bay.

    I'd suggest checking it out.

    Hope it helped!

Might be a bit too pricey, but I know there are a variety of short, inexpensive cruises out of ports near you. There are 2 day "cruises to nowhere" and 3 day cruises to Canada, etc. With "kids clubs" on the cruise, would be fun for both adults and children!

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

No time share...no time share...Rent an RV and go camping in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There is nothing more relaxing and entertaining and COOL (In both ways)
