Southern Belle in First Class?

A southern belle was flying overseas on a first class flight. She sat in her seat and next to her was a very proper businesswoman with her laptop open working on a report. The young southern belle in an attempt to be polite began a conversation with the lady.

"Where are ya'll from," asked the belle with her southern drawl.

"I come from New York," answered the businesswoman, "where people are educated enough to not end their sentences with a preposition."

After a few moments of silence the southern belle politely asked, "so where are ya'll from b*tch?"

That's a good one! I can relate to it.

I'm from the South -- Southwest, actually (Texas). That would make me a Southwestern Belle.

(I know, that joke was stupid...)

the snobby NY businesswoman had it coming. No one ever says 'from where are y'all' it is more correct but the where are you from sounds better, and people from New York follow the rule of not ending a sentence with a preposition no better than anyone else. A lot of phrases sound normal with the preposition at the end and it is too much work changing the whole sentence around, plus not as many people care anymore if a sentence ends with a preposition.
