Should we end federal recognition of marriage?
Meaning that the government would no longer recognize the institution of marriage, and that all existing marriages would become civil unions...civil unions used only as a legal term, and marriage as a cultural/religious one...
So should we end the federal recognition of marriage? Why or why not?

This is an interesting question, but I do think marriage has a place in society, and that the government should recognize its existence for several practical reasons like inheritance and ownership. I think the government is obligated to acknowledge all petitions for it, however. And individuals and their faiths can choose to recognize it or not.
