floyd mayweather jr style of fighting?

do you ppl like the way floyd fights?let me refrase that;do you like the way floyd runs?floyds style should be called "sissy style"are you actually entertained watching floyd run like a scardy cat all over the ring?floyd never takes chances or mixes it up.for us fans of sports its all about entertainment, but floyd makes it boring to watch..and whats even worse is that floyd uses this style against over the hill bums.my husband and i watched the baldomir vs mayweather live.mayweather came in the arena wearing a gladiator suit, but he ran like a sissy all night.there were lots of ppl in the arena that were angry including celebrities that left the arena before the bout was over.at the post fight floyd started crying for the critisism.but come on now.if your going to hype up a fight saying your going to take the other mans head off and than go in there and get on your biscycle is just disapointing.i know socalled floyd fans that never even seen him fight, they just jump on the bandwagon.

Update:

bignorme, ali & leonard would take risks at times throwing combinations and those guys were fighting against the best in there divisions not avoiding them! ali would talk alot of smack but he would back it up.. mayweathers style is throwing 1 pot shot and run,he never takes risks and he rarely throws a combination against over the hill boxers..floyd talks alot of smack and doesnt back it up!

Jessica, I am going to say something you arent going to like, and I am sorry but it has to be said.

Because you can name some boxers out of historical past, does not mean you know boxing.

If you think Floyd is "on his bicycle" as you call it, how come his punch stat is always 60 percent or above? He always lands the majority of his blows, and always out punches his opponents almost two to one (dont look at the PUNCHES THROWN stat Jessica, look at the LANDED).

And yeah I gotta agree, you sound like an MMA fan in the making. I boxed for fifteen years and I can tell you, that if you critique how Floyd boxes, you have absolutely no idea what you are looking at when he fights. To you it looks like hes running, when all he is doing is circling so that the other puncher cant set his feet to hit him. He uses the most risky style in boxing which can backfire in your face at any given night. As a matter of fact it DID with him when he fought Zab Judah...Judah was too fast and COULD land those right hand leads on him...Floyd had to adjust.

And what about when Baldomir cornered him? He couldnt hit him then either. Floyd didnt run out of the corners...Baldomir just missed. Baldomir was completely outclassed, and that became apparent in two rounds. What people were booing was that Floyd didnt just end it and insisted on carrying Baldomir when he could have easily picked him off.

Truth is Floyd has a sh*tty attitude and no one likes his personality. But at this point dropping names of guys who could beat him (Cotto, Margarito, Williams) is hopeful at best. Cotto doesnt have the resume (and has almost gotten knocked out by bums), Margarito has neither the skill nor speed to KEEP with Mayweather...and Paul Williams has shown himself to be a punchstat thrower like Calzaghe.

And I have to agree with Fudd. Since you want to quote fighters, lets talk about one. Gerald McClellan. You know, champion who got in one of those "entertaining" fights with Nigel Benn, fell asleep on his stool and never woke up. Oh my mistake, he did, blind and incapacitated.

All for his thankful fan base...none of which donate a dime to his family who has to support him full time now.

Lets listen to Tommy Hearns read a childrens book now and hear him slur and stutter...ALL for the fans, these same fans that call him a has been now because he has to fight for money.

If you want to see blood on the floor and mental damage created...jump over to MMA and leave your brain at the door. Those guys dont have a career path of more than three to four years anyway.

If you DO want to watch boxing...keep in mind boxing is referred to as an ART as well as a sport Jessica. And there is alot....ALOT more to it than lacing up and beating the snot out of each other.

I think Floyd has all the tools but it often appears that he doesn't want to risk using them. And he pays for that in fan support. But one thing Floyd does very well is win, and that's the name of the game -- even if it's not the most profitable part of the game. When you look at a fighter who is as defensive as Floyd is and look at the score cards when he doesn't wn by KO that says something about his skill as a boxer. Aggression is a big part of scoring in boxing, so when Floyd wins decisively while fighting defensively he must be doing some things pretty well.

The real rap on Floyd is that he doesn't fight the best guys in his division. When he lays claim to the all-time P4P title I cringe because he needs to prove he's the best in his division before he can be a legend. If (if-if-if) he fights both Cotto and Margarito and beats them handily then his place will be secure. I think he would have a hard time fighting defensively against Margo, who would give him a great fight and probably beat him.

I watched one of the SRRobinson-LaMotta fights today. I don't think Floyd could handle Ray's style, He would either have to fight or run to survive, and if he fought I think Ray would do a job on him.

Floyd Mayweather is a Boxer not a Brawler and even though its not enteirtaining it takes years of skill and teaching to fight like him. I think its funny when people say they dont like how he fights then the buy his PPV or in your case even go and watch him fight live. If you dont like his style dont watch him fight.

Boxing is the sport of hit and dont get hit Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray lenoard people always complaied about them not being entertaining either. However years later when its all set and done people look back and admire greatness. FLoyd isnt great yet but he has great boxing ablity. I having been boxing about 4 years now and let me tell you getting punched aint fun and standing around waiting for a guy too clock you isnt fun either.

Defence,Footwork,Speed,Timing, smarts all those things are what boxing is based on. Thats why you see some of these guys with come forward styles that end up being brain dead years later.

Take the Oscar Dela Hoya fight for example if Floyd would have slugged with Oscar and got knocked out everyone would have talked about how stupid it was. Then all the critizism would have came "Oh Floyds overrated" or "He's stupid he isnt a Brawler" so what does he do he outboxes Oscar and peole say "oh the fight was boring" the guy is in a lose or lose situation.

People who have no Idea about what it takes to be a fighter or how much diclipline it takes to learn techneque the right way. They just want a Brawl and want to wonder why people thing boxing is so barbaric.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE TWO GUYS SLUG WATCH KIMBO SLICE. DONT WATCH AND EDUCATED BOXER AND THEN GET MAD WHEN IT ISNT A BRAWL

Yah, I'm very sorry that Floyd doesn't allow his opponents to hit him in order to please you. What must he be thinking? He's probably going to end up with his brains intact and live a long, healthy life...how intolerable. He should reduce his career and lifespan to make you happier.

By the way, Roman Gladiators also practiced the art of defense. Those were the ones that lasted long enough to win their freedom and gain iconic status. They used shields to fend off blows, I guess they were sissies, too.

This disrespecting of Mayweather's style is getting tiresome. For anyone that think Floyd is sissy or whatever, I want you to get into the ring and make the Philly Shell defense work without getting your brains beat out. Leaving yourself open to right hands is anything BUT sissy or cowardly, it's the gutsiest thing to do, to rely on a shoulder roll rather than a high guard to protect oneself. Just try it ONCE against an opponent, then come back and tell me if you think Mayweather is a sissy.

You put it right on the money. PBF show's a complete package and some more. He's a complete boxer and what boxer should be. Why you think Cotto is starting to learn how to box? Cotto is trying to get the mental and smart part of boxing down. If you look at PBF, he not a true 147 but 140. MMA was created for people who like to see guy's just beat the hell out of each other. That's the reason why Margo lost to Paul. He got out boxed. Margo saids he can box, "yeh right", thats what Hatton said. Cotto now understand that brawling will only get you so far.

if u don't appreciate mayweather's style then u don't appreciate the art of boxing and sweet science, u make it sound like its easy to do what mayweather does in the ring by calling it (running) it is boxing not running.. and floyd does back up his talk, he says im gonna win and he DOES.

mayweather also does have great shows, watch arturo gatti, corley, judah, n'dou, chavez.. etc.. baldomir isn't his only fight, what he did with baldomir and de la hoya was very smart.. just like how bignorme said it and elmer fudd
