CH2 = CH2 + Cl2 -----> ClCH2 CH2Cl . Is this reaction between ethene and chlorine an example of?

(a) addition

(b) substitution

(c) addition polymerisation

(d) condensation polymerisation

    Addition. You are adding the two components together, but you don't form a polymer.

    Think about what is happening, and about what words mean. You should be able to answer this question from the definitions.

    (a)Addition ma'dear

    alkene + halogen/ H2 ===> alkane with halogen/hydrogen added across double bond

    it's addition because you are adding the two main componets together so it would be (A) addition
