Can Esurance charge me 104 for cancelling 5 days early?!?
I recently changed to Progressive starting June 1, 2008 and cancelled my Esurance that same day. My Esurance was going to renew June 6, 2008, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to just start Progressive at the end of the month. Now Esurance is charging me 104.00 for cancellation I guess, even though I don't see it on my policy docs at all about a fee?? Is there anything I can do?
I HATE Esurance!!!!!!!!!!
Correction: Started Progressive at the beginning of the month- June 1, 2008

If you cancel you insurance early ( I would think) you should get a pro-rated refund. I would complain about that, and see what happens. Tell them to send you a copy of the policy where it says cancellations fee. Then report them to the B.B.B.

That would be a case of Bull---- that I would immediately resolve--make sure you didn't already owe from previous outstanding balances--if not, call and bug the crap out of them--be nice, humble, and give compliments to someone who is trying to help you--whatever you do, don't get angry at them when they are helping you get the fee refunded. Make sure also you didn't have say, a 6 month premium, and maybe you had missed a month or two--
Also, with some companies, if you are on a 6 month payment plan, and pay your last remaining premium first of June, you still have that insurance through end of the month, and I would guess through end of July with two months worth of charges left--
Call Progressive and tell them they mistakenly told you your insurance was up end of May, when really you needed to start end of June or July--note to them that you really didn't want to have to cancel, but you needed the first of July or August to be the start date(whichever it is) --see if they can waive the prorated charge for first couple days of June --tell them they are so kind to do this, and you will now be able to afford to pay! -do that now before another day goes by-chances are they will change the start date (free of any charge) to next month

Keep arguing with esurance for 5 days and then tell them they can't charge you cause its past expiration anyway.
