If you are truly interested in pursuing this question, you will need to read "What Life Should Mean To You" by Dr. Alfred Adler. It was published in 1931 by Little, Brown, and Company. It may be available through your library or through Amazon.com. It gives many, many insights. The first chapter is: "The Meaning of Life."
