I need information on Wood (Sylvan) Elf Lore.?
I'm trying to write a story based upon a character I developed over two years ago along with my boyfriend. Unfortunately, at the time, I did not know anything about Wood (or as they're sometimes referred to, Sylvan) Elf lore.
What I'm looking for is information on their personal relationships, how they interact with others of their own kind, reproduction, that sort of thing. After scouring the internet for hours with every combination of words I can think of, I've come up with "They don't like anybody else, and if anybody seems to want to harm them, they shoot them." Not exactly what I'm looking for...
I'm going off of the D&D/Warhammer type of Wood Elf. If anybody can help me, please let me know!

Try looking up Dragonlance elves - there is a bunch of information on them on the internet. They have different types so you may need to try googling "Sylvanesti", "Qualinesti", "Kagonesti".

Elves were originally created in Norse mythology and of the areas surrounding the Norse peoples but as far as I can tell, they don't mention 'Wood Elves" in particular. Elves are definitely real and while they don't live among us anymore they did one time, long ago. There are even documented cases of their sightings in the past but they left us as the world grew to be a more hostile place and they were no longer able to hide from us. If you want to find anything on Wood Elves you may have to search through old Norse mythology to find what your after.

Reread your question....."I'm trying to write a story..." A STORY! It's not a non-fiction compendium of the real-life habits and traits of "wood elves". It's FICTION. Run with what you've got! Who is going to tell you you're wrong? You could just be the author to break ground by writing about what YOU feel are the lifestyles and habits of Sylvan elves. Get writing!
