Do you think that if Obama and Hillary were white dudes?

that any of this defection to McCain talk would be an issue?

Because if you take away the race and gender superficial factors, and look objectively at the issues and platforms, these two candidates are virtually identical.

Do the issues even matter, or is it all a popularity contest and bitter feelings?

Does this make sense?

Update:

Dodger: Just like if Hillary wasn't Bill's wife she wouldn't ever have even been in a position to run?

Update 2:

I feel like everyone is kind of missing the point of the question. The question has to do with Hillary supporters threatening to defect McCain even though Obama has the same positions on issues as Hillary, and how does that make any logical sense?

Update 3:

from a purely impartial viewpoint.

Actually, Hillary was the much more political person throughout college and her career. She shaped Bill and spearheaded his political campaign through to the Governorship.

But if Obama were white.....he wouldn't have made it out of the starting gate. 95% black vote.

Neither would be running for president. They are newbies in government with little or no experience. It is just the fact that one is black and one a female that got them this far. Right now the experienced voters are going with the experienced and well seasoned McCain. Each of those two talk about their years of experience in government but neither of them have. When Obama was asked in 2004 when he won the seat in Ill.if he had thoughts of running for president in 2008 he admitted that he doesn't have the experience needed.

So yes ... the vote is coming down to no experience with a new twist or the same old with experience. Your choice.

don't forget: Obama is half white. so it still shouldn't be an issue:)

truth be told I think it eventually became a popularity contest because many of the people with experience were not supported. I think people are sensitive to the issue of experience now because we're coming out of 8 years of Bozo the Clown and now people want to say they're taking it seriously but I am not sure they know how.

If Obama was a white male he would have been out of the race a long time ago

I agree that if hillary wouldnt have been a clinton she wouldnt have made it as far as she did.

If obama was white and Hillary wasnt bills wife the nominee would be John Edwards

If Obama was a white guy, people would be accepting him better and there wouldn't have been these forwarded e-mail rumors going around that aren't true. He would win no problem.

If Hillary was a white guy -- she still wouldn't win. She gets too worked up about things and comes off as too demanding.

If Obama and Hillary were both white dudes Hillary would have won the primary since she has the better qualifications and experience.

    Exactly!

The Hillary supporters defecting to McCain don't care for politics. They're either throwing a tantrum, or they're racists.

    I'm colourblind.

    Nothing broken.

Source(s): I am actually, literally colourblind.
