are you truly comfortable with how we elect people?
It was a sham.. no doubt about it.. we have nothing to do with what happens.. none.... time things change.. and not Obama change... election reform!!!
I am a Hillary fan, if we did what the country wanted she would be the nominee wouldn't she? but we need to rid ourselves of this silly electoral college and delegates... just crap and the media should report.. not just "report" opinions... they suck so bad and I have lost so much respect for people I thought were fair before.. it is all a sham...

No problem here other than I worry about voter fraud.
It could be the downfall of our democracy.

I will say that I am no fan of the Electoral College. I honestly thought that there would be more talk about removing it after the 2000 election, but I guess the embarassment of how it all played out (having the friggin Supreme Court decide who our president would be), but I suppose that it just doesn't move the dial.
The fact of the matter is that the Electoral College actually made a bit of sense when this country first started. Information didn't move fast enough for people to make informed decisions. Delegates made sense. Now we have tv with 24 hour coverage of the news, cel phones, internet, fax machines. The electoral college is out of date and nonsensical. I think you should get more credit for blowing someone out in a state than winning it by 1,000 votes.

I do not like our election system. The delegates were put in place when the population was uneven in certain areas, meaning less dense population. This gave them more fair representation. It is an old system, smacks of cronyism and outdated. We should return to the popular vote. But the problem with that taking place is reflected in the 2004 election with the hanging chads, etc. There needs to be more than 2 parties represented. I know, there are more than two, but only 2 are really recognized as viable. Sad. The Reps and Dems have the media so deep into their pockets that the other parties never get a chance. The media snubs them. A lot has to be done to reform our election process, but corruption will always be there.

I think the electoral college is a joke. Although they have rarely chosen against the majority, they have the power to not listen to the people. I also don't like the importance placed on the presidential election. When they get into office, their decision and control lies with Congress...maybe we should pay more attention and money to their elections than the president who is only a symbol for America.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Now, the question is how do you define whether the system is broke or not. By one standard, you could say that USA is the longest running free government in the world. Our Constitution is the oldest active government operative in the world at 230+ years.
While some things may seem strange, I don't have a problem with the way we operate.... unless you'd prefer to be one of those instable governments that faces the coup d'état every now and again.
If you feel that your individual voice has no bearing, that is really the point. The intent behind a democracy is to make a collective statement... millions of votes at a time.

No, I'm not. In 2000 Gore won the popular vote and in my mind should have become President because of that, but because of a backwards electoral system, Bush won. Totally not fair and not listening to the actual voice of America.

NO.... I was not allowed to vote for the person I WANTED because (based on the caucus votes), the guy I wanted to vote for had already dropped out.
By the time Maryland was allowed to vote, our choice was McCain or.... McCain.
NO caucuses
ALL elections on the same day - nationwide!
No news coverage allowed until the last poll closes... no more news/radio bigmouths influencing people's votes.

There is definately something that doesn't make me happy. I though that by right Hillary was the most qualified. It is a mystery to me what caused us to have such poor choices.

it shouldn't cost $40 Million to run for president, and the electoral college is BULL CARP
