How many pounds of dry pasta do I need for a pasta salad for 75 people?

My daughter's graduation party is coming up, and I am making a pasta salad in which I have to feed our entire family plus a few others. Any ideas/helpful hints would be appreciated.

thanks.

If pasta salad is going to be the main dish, 10 lbs of dry pasta, if a side dish, cut in half. 1 bottle of Italian dressing per pound...for the whole 10 lbs, add chopped chicken breast (3 lbs), tomatoes (3 lbs), finely chopped broccoli (2 lbs), sliced olives and parmesean or feta (1 lb).

You might want to make a 2 kinds to give people an option. Another type is Asian style. Asian (sesame, orange, etc) dressing with sliced almonds or peanuts, mandarin oranges, chopped fresh spinach or pea pods and shrimp or chicken.

I think about 5-8 lbs. if there is going to be other things. Pasta salad is sometimes not a good thing at events.

all of my recipes call for 1-lb of pasta for 8 servings of pasta salad.....so 9-10 lbs. should be right

I cook some chicken, maybe a couple of leg quarters, but use what you like, with onions, garlic, salt and pepper, and when it is finished i put some macaroni it in. If it cooks a long time (i left some in the crockpot a little long once) it gets soft and clumpy, my daughter said it tasted just like dumplings and sure enough it did. I made it again that way, lol, because I liked it. You can make spaghetti sauce and pour over or open a can of chili and mix it with cooked macaroni. works for me.

if there is going to be other things to eat, i would say 5-8 lbs of pasta should be enough. all the other yummy things you add to it will help increase volume.

good luck, sounds like you got your hands full.

It depends on how much each person will eat. But i looked it up on ellens kitchen and it says about 12 pounds.

    I hope this helps :)
