a friend knows this guy whos living with someone, they have been?

together about 2-3 yrs and are not married and dont have kids, she has 3 that live with them and his 3 live with their mum at the other end of the country so doesnt see them often. he sold his house and she sold hers when they moved in and he put down half the deposit as well as paying the larger portion of bills he pays 1300/month she pays 1000, house worth about 400k. they want to split up as they dont get on at all now and she wont sell the house (jointly owned) she said if he leaves (he said this is what he will have to do and not pay his part of the mortgage) she will borrow the money and take it off his lump sum when the house is eventually sold. i have not heard of anything like this b4 so couldnt advise, he is becming ill with depression and is on medication for it. he wont see a lawyer apparently. anyone know what he could do so i could advise her to tell him (we are in uk)_ tks for yr help

if he leaves the house will have to be valued straight away and if she won`t sell then she will have to buy him out, if she borrows money to pay the mortgage then it will be her problem because she alone will have signed for the loan, he can demand half of the value of the house minus the remainder of half of the mortgage, she can`t hold him to ransom in this way, if the mortgage isn`t paid then they will both lose out by having the house reposessed, I can`t see her getting a loan because she only owns half the house and she will have to prove she can pay both mortgage and loan, she probably can`t afford it
