What supplies will I need for a large fishtank?
I'm going to be setting up a larger fishtank (25-35 gallon) soon, and am curious as to what I will need to purchase to begin setting up (besides the tank, the gravel, plants.) I have a filter, but seeing as it the tank and some supplies were given to me by an uncle, I'm not sure the shape they're in, or even what to do with them. Any help will be nice!

You will need everything listed here for starting up a new aquarium: http://www.fishlesscycling.com/articles/new_aquari...
Except of course for the optional stuff.
Make sure to cycle your tank first: http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php

You restarted the nitrogen cycle by procuring a clean clear out and cleansing the tank. with somewhat of luck you do not have fish yet because your tank is going by a bacteria bloom and maximum fish aren't any more waiting to proceed to exist the ammonia spike that occurs even as your new clear out builds up significant bacteria once extra, that is in a position to take weeks. that's going to take weeks to cycle now and once you do purchase fish, lower than no situations replace the total clear out attitude right now. easily replace the cartridges even as they falling aside, yet lower than no situations replace each and each and every of the cartridges without delay or you'll kill off any fish on your tank. even as a cartridge is slimy, that is even as that is doing what it will be speculated to, that is harvest sensible bacteria that converts fish waste for you. it will be multiple weeks previously than the tank is fish-possibility-loose and do you should do have fish, do 10-20% partial water changes daily to maintain the ammonia degrees semi-reliable for the fish. with somewhat of success you'll not have fish in it even in spite of the actuality that. perfect luck.

you should get a heater depending on what fish you have. you might need a light. and for alge and clean control you should get some snails.
