So I hear that you can use household bleach such as "Clorox" to bleach your hair.
Does it actually work or will it just lighten my dark brown hair.

No, it will not lighten your hair, but it will damage it. Don't do it.

do not use clorox!! wont work and you will ruin your hair. go to a beauty supply and get some bleach and 30 volumn developer

That is the worst thing I have ever heard. I'd expect your hair to break off if you did that. That's not worth it. Good luck.
