It's a collection of inspired writings about God's dealings with several groups of people who lived anciently.

It contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as given through prophets of God, and can help us become like God to the extent we follow its teachings.

In point of fact the Bible is a "Compilation" of Letters and Texts that have been unearthed, discovered and otherwise acquired by various religious fanatics and a few scholars. These individuals took it upon themselves to decide what should be included, how it should be translated (many many times by many many unqualified people) and who should be allowed to have access to it. The limited access made it desirable to the "unwashed masses" who then assumed (erroneously) that those who controlled access must know more then they did and that it (the Bible) must be a true and accurate accounting of history and "Gods" wishes. Once King James popularized it (the Bible) Pandoras box was opened and there was no stopping it.
