What happens when you braid and dye sections of the braid?

My daughter is wanting to do so, and I'm scared to see how it turns out.

    sections of the three hair pieces that make the braid, or part of the entire braid itself?

    it will look like crap.

    it will prob be just random spots of w/e dye she uses.
