Why are all questions about Islam by outsiders called 'fitna' (causing trouble)?
I can put up a question simply asking what the black rock at ka'aba is and what it's meant to be. When I get a variety of responses, resulting in mass confusion among people, I'm accused of doing fitna (dividing the community). Doesn't the problem lie with the answerers who are intolerant of other people's beliefs?
Oh yeah sorry, i forgot to mention it's only a *minority* that say fitna. Most muslims are open-minded enough to answer and ponder. It's just the extremist minority that has the greatest influence at times.

People who cannot defend their ideas or beliefs with scripture, science, history, basic morality, logic or even some common sense, fear questions and attempt to demonize those who would ask a question that might cause them to admit that they cannot defend what they are saying.
Those who do not fear truth and do not fear that they might be wrong about something and might have to subdue their ego to give up a faulty belief and take a new one, will welcome all questions as will those who are firm in knowledge or belief that their beliefs are correct. True followers of Allah have no reason to fear or denigrate any questions or those who ask them. True followers of Allah would have no reason nor motivation to do such things.

As Salaam to you all,
Most outsiders do not even know what Fitna is and the majority of Muslims will only answer the questions the way that their Iman has instructed them. I would say that the community of Muslims are already divided into 73 sect's and each one says that they and they alone are on the right path of Islam, when in actual fact they have all strayed far away from the truth given to them by Allah (SWT).
Yes there is one sect which actually adheres to the path given by Allah (SWT) and which we have the guiding light of the Prophet (pbuh) to guide us by. Unfortunately the light is very dim at the moment barely visible to those who look for it. It will never die out completely but it may become dimmer before it brightens up by the Will of Allah (SWT) and the will of the Muslims. Maybe it will take a miracle of tremendous size for people to sit up and take notice.
A Hafiz of the Glorious Qur'an that I know, who can recite the text from beginning to end, calls himself a half Hafiz because he cannot translate it from Arabic to his native language and he does not know what the words mean. This I feel is sad and one which he is trying to resolve but when we talk he willingly says that most of his generation who can recite the Glorious Qur'an are the same as himself. If this is the state of our Hafiz's, then what hope is there for our scholars?
Wa Salaam

I'm sorry but there are more tolerant people who will answer. There's just a problem with the times we in Muslims are seen as evil and terrorists and this results in paranoia from the Muslim sides that people are trying to make them look evil or bad. Then some are just plain stupid and intolerable. But unfortunately that's the situation theres predjucdice in the world due to the "war on terror" etc... Theres nothing wrong with your question and i know Muslims who would glady answer without any problem, it's unfortunate you came across people who are either paranoid about this terrorist thing or plain stupid and intolerant (not only subjected to Muslims).
Always seek knowledge no matter who blocks your path.
Theres no problem with you
lol my theory prove just look at the biased responsed you get of people who hate Islam although they do not understand it
and the guy above is willing to answer and he is muslim

Hadith of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Regarding the black stone, hajr-e-aswad, there is a hadith (tradition), attributed to the illustrious companion of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh), Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
According to Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, book of Hajj, chapter 56, H.No. 675. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (pbuh) touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you".

Maybe it's the way the outsider asks the questions. Tone of voice, subject matter, and how much knowledge does the asker have about what they are asking. It s not hard to offend people. But there are right places, times and situations to ask spiritual questions.

Some Muslims unfortunately are so sensitive to criticism whether from outsider or insider , it happens in all religions , this is normal and expected , you can't except all people to be open minded and tolerant , some people are just dumb.

Yea, I think people like to have someone/thing to easily blame and I suppose it's just easier to blame the one questioner than all those who answered but what do I know about anything, anyways.

Anyone who wants to prevent someone from learning, or asking questions, is wrong -- I'd run, not walk, from a religion like that.
You are absolutely right, the problem is with the answerers, as well as with those who cannot stand to have their faith questioned even by people with genuine queries, with no malicious intentions.

well if you want tolerance you should show some.
I wonder how much the muslim masses know about their own religion if people cry 'fitna' everytime someone asks a hard question.

you can't divide anything let alone Muslims we have been spiritually immovable every other religion has altered to the changing times,Islam remains as it was and will continue to do so.It has been preserved for more then 1400years in it's entirety.
