Do you pay postage to send a letter to a squaddie via BFPO?

Do you put stamps on or just hand it to the post office?

Unless the rules have changed, the letters are posted normally with a 1st class stamp, sent to a central services sorting office and distributed by the Ministry of Defence. BFPO only.

For those serving in the UK, letters are sent direct to the camp.

    Edit.

Here you go Royal Mail ......HM.Forces Mail.

I think you can send mail through the BFPO box free. If it isn't free, it is only the national rate, as if it was going to an address in the British Isles, no matter where it is addressed to.

There used to be special blue envelopes that were pre-paid

Failing that, just a normal 1st class stamp

Not if you get a 'bluey'. You can get them from Smiths, but don't tell Gordon Brown! It maybe something he's overlooked.

You can send parcels over the Christmas period for free, but you have to pay at all other times.

we used to get special envelopes to send but I dont think you have to pay - you should not have to anyway
