Cedric Benson released from the Chicago Bears...?

I for one am incredibly happy that he's gone. I hated Benson since the day the Bears called his name. I just wish that this all happened before the draft so they could have taken Mendenhall. I hope Matt Forte works out for us, I've heard lots of good things about him.

What do you guys think about this news? Will this actually make the Bears a better team?

Good riddance. For all of the hype surrounding him out of college, he was a bust plain and simple. He was right up there with Ricky Williams. If I were a GM, I'd avoid Texas RB's like the plague. Why the Bears let Thomas Jones go I'll never know....

I think Forte will add a lot to the Bears running attack. Peterson has potential, as does Wolfe. They each add a different dimension to the game. This won't be a great year for the Bears, but it can definitely be a season to build on.

    Now, about the QB situation.........

Look like the cowboys are going to get another running back.

Forte looked good against LSU, until a fumble in the second half that cost his team a chance at the game. He looked tired by then, so I don't think his conditioning will be good enough to be an every down back. I think there are some good 2nd and 3rd stringers out there that just need a chance, and the bears should look to one of them. They still need a QB.

I don't know if it helps them become a better team, but it sure didn't hurt them.

Al Davis probably woke up from his slumber at his desk when a couple of interns walked by the office and were discussing Benson. The Raiders, Rams or Browns may take a look, at the league minimum, with incentives based on behavior as much as on-the-field goals.

Piss of to those whom say he will go to Dallas, their RB Poster is Full.

Benson should be made an example, as he must have heard of the Pacman jones situation. This is something that people should learn from. Benson should lose his rights to play in the NFL for two years.

Will it make us a better team? No.

Was it a necessary move? Yes it was. Benson was just too inconsistent and now he is getting in trouble with the law with the drinking.

If we cut him because of a moral's clause and reduce our cap commitment, then that was great.

--and quit it with the thug crap! Being a drunk don't make you a thug, it makes you a drunk.

You know i'm happy hes gone but i think the bears should have traded him for a draft pick instead

Great idea Chicago, get rid of all your RB's??? Your QB can run your offense by himself......not! I'd take a drunk Benson over Grossman anyday. Stop the bleeding, he might have been a cry-baby and lost his work ethic, but he still has more talent in his big toe than Grossman has in his entire body.

No the time was to trade him before the draft for a 4th or 5th round pick

Yeah i agree its basically what he deserves for being such an idiot, its a shame that so much money went to this kid when it could have gone to much better causes then his thug/gangster lifestyle...

Players like him make me sick, they dont realized that they are priveleged to be in the NFL, they think they are above it.

they are definitely a better team without him, he was a huge first round bust for them

now they just have to worry about the quarterback situation
