Hello,
(ANS) YES! I tend to agree with golfer2 you should re-install the program (reboot the machine afterwards to write the changes into the windows registry) and then after it is installed. Then try un-installing it using the control panels add/remove feature.
**If the program is well written the installer process will put back all the old files in the original locations on the hard disk, all the registry settings and overwrite any older settings. That means the same program can then be un-installed (removed) in a clean manner.
**I DON'T recommend disk clean up tools unless your completely sure what they do and how they work, otherwise you could make matters worse and end up with a real tangled mess.
**The problem is that NOT all programmers write software in the same way or use the same install /removal methods. If the software is NOT well written in the first place then it might not un-install cleanly i.e. it leaves all sorts of messy settings behind it when removed. And thats where this type of problem usually originates.
**Finally if you must use a registry cleaner tool, if the above isn't successful for some reason. Then at least use a good quality tool. I highly recommend a 100% FREE program called REG SEEKER. This will safely clean up the registry and backup any items it removed in case a restoration is required later on. I have been using Reg Seeker for some time and its never caused any problems.
**Also its worth backup up your Windows Registry before you run Reg Seeker and for this I use ERDNT (again this is free-ware) **A quick Yahoo or Google search will find both items easily.
Hope that is useful?
Kind Regards Ivan

Your additional information tells me all. The time has come, as it does with all PC's to:
1. back up everything.
2. Make sure you have programme discs
3. Be brave
4. RE-IMAGE
The machine will be quicker than a hare chased by hounds and totally clean of all the remainders of programmes that you are seeing. I reckon on doing this every few months, and never more than 6 months.

Actually the only to remove them is to install them again and remove them thru add and remove programs.Windows doesn't recognize that they're gone because windows didn't remove them.
