Hair straightners damage hair?
My hair has always be naturally straight but with like a lil kin k so i straightened it and it makes it much better. But I got told hair straightners damage your hair is it true??
And the next day i put my hair up and i do alot then when i took it down it had a big bump in my hair and it looked horrible and its never done that before when i took my hair down.
Is it something to do with the hair straightners?
and do they damage your hair?
Thanks

Applying heat at high temperatures to the hair, constantly, does damage the hair. It makes the hair weaker therefore leading to breakage. this is after alot of use so yea they do damage.

They do damage your hair. But ceramic straighteners actually seal the cuticles of your hair making it shiny and smooth. They don't snag on your hair either. Also, using a heat protection spray helps protect your hair from the heat damage.
If you tied your hair after straightening your hair then that might be the reason you have the bump. If your hair is heated then it's easier to style so the hair tie [or whatever you use] kind of acts like a styling tool and leaves the bump.

I straighten my hair all the time. Yes, it does dry out the hair.. and cause some damage if you use it too often or if you leave it on there too long. I wouldn't think a bump in your hair is from the straightening iron. They make hair protectant spray to spray on before iron use. I always use that. They sell it at walmart and salons... about everywhere. If you are using a straightening iron, i recommend using that spray.

the bump in your hair is just from the hair tie because the hair has been pushed and stretched in that position hair straighteners and are not bad as long as u don't use them all the time also use heat protectors before straighting

For one yes they do damage your hair. The heat actually fries your hair. That's totally gross looking up close and would explain your "bump"
