Why does everyone want to know where you were when JFK was shot?

Isn't it much more important to know more about what actually happened? Am I the only one that still cares that Oswald had company on the grassy knoll?

He was bucking the enormous, powerful, corrupt unions that were all but destroying businesses all across this country, his own father warned him and Bobby not to do that. He was already in deep trouble over his stand on the deplorable discrimination in the southern states. I think Oswald was hired by some top brass union leaders to kill JFK, then put the blame on his stand on the discrimination issue. The fact that Oswald was shot at point blank range, while surrounded by Texas police proved without a shadow of a doubt that it was a set up. My six year old who yelled when he saw it happen on TV could NEVER understand how Oswald in a police facility with BIG policemen all around him could have a little man walk right up between the police and shot Oswald. A six year old knew something was mighty wrong.

It is a generational thing. We all remember it. To most of us it was our first shock into the reality of the world.

Most of us have the desire to know the truth. I seriously doubt that it will ever be answered. I would be willing to bet that most of us have watched all the documentaries and news stories about the subject that come on TV and/or have read some books about it too.

I would strongly suggest that you do some research too if you think that Lee Harvey Oswald was on the grassy knoll.

I'm still interested. It doesn't matter who did the killing. What

matters is the person or persons, that did the hiring of the

hit man. And for which particular reasons. At the time, JFK

was loved by the majority of American citizens. This wasn't

just media hype. It was a generalized feeling among us all.

Kids in grade school wouldn't have had any idea how the

nation felt. Probably more like what their parents or their

teachers' felt. I was no longer in school, but a young married

woman. I saw how people were affected by this tragedy, both

live and in person. I was devastated and grieved along with

them. I saw the televised shooting, run over and over again.

And the analyzing of the "grassy knoll" situation. Yes, there

looked like someone was in the shadows. Probably a back

up man. They didn't want to lose their opportunity. The cars

were moving slowly enough, for a perfect hit. And 'they' got

it. Then we were faced with seeing Jack Ruby kill Oswald,

and did that ever get settled, as to if he was a grieved citi-

zen, or was he sent to shut up the hit man? It's been too long

for me to remember if that was hushed up also. I doubt if the

public will ever know the truth. Look at previous presidents

that were assassinated. We found the killers, but not the

men behind the hiring. We can only speculate as to who or

which persons they were. But without evidence, what would

    convict them?

I'm old enough that I still care what happens in our country.

And when the leader of our nation is killed, I want to know

why and I want to know by whom. Especially, if he has the

majority of people admiring him and his family, and has been

the most adored of any previous president. No JFK wasn't

perfect. He had enemies. Probably his grieving wife, had issues with his womanizing, that made the gossip circles. But who wanted him stopped in his tracks? I'll always

    want to know the answer.

I find that most people feel a need to relate somehow on subjects such as Kennedy's death, 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, etc. It is a way of communicating our feelings and thoughts. And yes, we could try and try to figure out the truth but we know that might be almost impossible. So we tend to state what we do know.. where we were and how we felt about JFK's death. We can sit around and debate the why's but doubt it will ever be totally resolved.

People ask where you were because, at the time, it was such a shock and everything seemed to come to a standstill and for weeks, it was the primary topic. One example was my brother's class, in the middle of their S.A.T. exams. So many kids were upset that the test was stopped and they had to take it over. There was a tremendous amount of speculation and the Warren Commission was supposed to be the final and ultimate decision on the facts, but it hasn't answered the question for many people who are still interested in what was behind it.

No, you're not the only one that cares, but you'd better not be too vociferous about it or you'll end up dead too. What kind of free society is ours when they decided the public shouldn't find out what the "secrets" are in 2025 like was originally stated by the ?Warren Commission ? or Supreme Court.... now they've postponed it a 100 years.. what is this Russia?

People want to know because it was one of the most emotional events of the century. And Oswald did it alone, thank you.

Historically speaking, we all look back and recall exactly where we were when major events in history took place. I can clearly recall where I was when JFK was assassinated and I also recall where I was and what I was doing when the World Trade Center was attacked. It's human nature to put ourselves in perspective with what was going on when these things happen.

Where were you when Lennon was shot? Yes, you do have a point, I was in 4th grade...it is more important to know more about what actually happened...You don't feel Oswald acted alone?

Its a group consciousness thing - we all recognise that there are seminal moments in our lives and in history - and we want to recall what we were doing at the point when lives and history were changed.

It is the last moment that we were doing something before it was changed forever.

War declared Victory declared JFK Lennon 9/11 etc.etc.,

milestones that everyone can relate to and how it affected thier life and those around them.

As for the theories of conspiracy around many of these political assasinations GHANDI JFK KING - even PRINCESS DIANA ....... look not who fired the gun but who made the bullits
