How do I manage to always kill my fish?

I have just a small 10 gallon fish tank. Nothing fancy. I had a couple of the decent sized goldfish and just a few decorations. It was my 2 yr olds so it was just a simple setup for him. But my fish keep dying. What could I possibly being doing wrong? I was always under the impression that goldfish were very easy to keep up with. I feel bad cuz all my sons fish keep dying. Any ideas???

It could be that one fish brought home a disease and the water was contaminated by the time you put new fish in there. Do you have a filtration system running on there? Sounds like you need to do a complete water change and start from scratch. If you don't have a filter, you have to get one. Also, make sure that you are adding a sufficient amount of water conditioner when doing any water changes. Even goldfish need their water neutralized and some areas have higher chlorine, ph, hardness etc.

And if all else fails, question the two year old...I've heard many a story of where a child was putting their juice in the tank or throwing things in there or dumping in way too much food.

    Good Luck.

U need lessons in fish keeping. There are many sites that u can ask questions and they can give u answers. Here is a site that is a group of serious fish keepers. The Basics is 1. Filter 2. water change 3. feed fish 4. Don't over crowd. 5. when u change water...put some water treatment in there. 6. Air pump (option) 7. Always leave some old water in the tank..like change MAX. is half.

10 gal. will be fine for now, I have 2 fantail goldfish in mine, and a millennium 1000 power filter, plus a volcano airpump, and a little fake plant. a airpump is just fine but i hate the sound, plus the power filter helps alot keeping the tank clean. I have a snail(it flips over and i have to flip it back sometimes) anyway, u eventually will have to get a bigger tank, goldfish are easy, and the most dirty, so tank cleaning is most important, don't feed too much, a pinch or two a day, usually know how much by what they can eat in a couple of minutes. flakes and peas i feed them. 25% water change a week with airpump, but all water everyday if u don't have one. don't use soap, and with tap water put a conditionar, 2 tb.spoons of aq. salt is good. don't forget to let ur fish adjust to the water if u get new fish or take them out of tank and put back in.

goldfish need more than 10 gallons by itself and do you change there water? feed them correctly? over feed them? Change the filters? let water sit and let tank cycle before putting them in? There are many reasons why so i wouldn't get anymore fish until you know how to take care of fish. Also start with something easier like bettas.

well it could be that your tank is over crouded. you should look up the possible sizes of your goldfish and compare to your tank. a usual "scale" is one inch of fish to one gallon. the other possiblity is you water. fish need declhoriened (haha idk if thats a word but it made sence to me?!?) water. to get the clhoriene(srry sp im bad at it) out you can go to a pet store or your local wal mart or something of that nature and buy drops for tap water. it is also possible your Ph ballance is off or your water is either too acidic or too alcaline. im srry about the spelling by the way i have never been good at it =/.

    Hope this helps!!

keep out of direct sunlight, fill tank with distilled water, set up tank and run bubblier and filtering system for about 2 days, when you get the new fish keep them in the bag and place them in the tank for about an hour. feed them appropriately only once a day at the same time every day. and yes i know this is a run on sentience. one gallon of water per inch of fish in tank.

Well I had gold fish for a couple years, and i dont know why they didnt die. But one thing i think that helped was i had a thing that pumped oxygen into the water. Also make sure the fish look healthy at the store too, because sometimes you get em home and they die.

Your number one problem is that a 10 gallon is not a suitable home for even one goldfish.
