Know where I can buy praying mantids in Minnesota?

I know I can get them from Ward's or Carolina Biological, and even from Arbico Organics, etc., but the shipping is more than the critters themselves! My daughter wants to give them away at her birthday party--which is cool--but I'd rather buy them locally.

Anyone know of any place to try?

Check out Ebay. I bought 7 egg cases for $5.00 with $3.00 shipping. I wasn't sure about how many would hatch, that was why I bought so many.

Then, I hatched out the first case. There was easily 100 mantids in the one case alone.

University of Minnesota does some things with them, so they might have some sources - try their biology department, science museum, or the sustainable agriculture group at the link below. OR drive to Bozeman Montana and get them from Planet Natural - they sell them. You could try a pet store or a garden shop, if they are more experimental, they may have them.
