i can't STAND that.

Only if the person typing criticicizes the typing or spelling of others. I make it a point to tell them off as well. I know that sounds stupid but I have seen it a bunch of times. At other times I start to get irritated but try to remind myself that the person might be physically disabled or have a learning disability, or be from another country and is just learning English. I have found that this helps keep me more tolerant and less stressed. Not to mention when I do blast someone, I feel justified and don't regret it later.

I can't vote yet since I am still level 1, but even though poor spelling drives me nuts I wouldn't thumbs down an answer because of it.

No, if if I don't like their answer than I do, if the answer or question does not make any sense than I move on to anothe question. You are right about the spelling and the grammar mistakes though.

Some do it intentionally but some of them just don't know how to spell correctly and don't have the sense to do spell check.

I have to admit, I've done that. Sometimes it's impossible to understand what they're trying to say. Sorry, but if you're going to spend time trying to help someone or express an opinion, make it easy to read.
