What do you love/hate about Yahoo Answers?

The question is for everyone but I'm most interested in the answers from people above level 3. The dynamics of any community always interests me. So a two part question.

What keeps you coming back to answer the same questions over and over again?

What do you hate about Yahoo Answers?

I keep coming back because my work days would go by veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow if I didn't. However, I DO enjoy educating others on the pros and cons of Yahoo Answers.

Things I hate about Yahoo Answers:

1.) I hate that people are so report happy! Especially when it comes to the "chatting" violation. It's as if they consider anything with the words "you" or "your" to be chatting, which is a violation of the community guidelines. For instance, they consider, "How long did it take you to graduate college?" to be chatting. It's absolutely ridiculous!

Y!A's FAQ says that a question or answer will be removed if it's reported by one or more "reliable users." If the circumstance is more serious then the Answers staff may remove a question or answer themselves after reviewing it. However, the majority of the time they're just automatically removed and violation notices are issued, because of the way the Y!A system is designed. I personally feel the whole reporting/violation system needs to be changed because innocent questions and answers will be reported/removed while others, that are extremely offensive, are left alone. PLUS, I know that there are waaaaaay too many trolls disguised as "reliable users" who are out to get other users they don't like by wrongfully reporting them.

Furthermore, people who state their opinions are being reported as well. And Y!A says that having a strong opinion is NOT a justifiable reason for reporting someone. They just ask that users "do not use slurs to refer to groups of people, do not insult other members, and do not act in a belligerent manner towards others" when stating their opinions. Unfortunately other users still do report opinionated questions or answers regardless of the fact that they don't violate any of the community guidelines. This is EXTREMELY frustrating because honest Y!A users shouldn't have to pay the price for report happy trolls.

2.) I don't like that people are able to add me as a contact without my approval. I don't want any trolls trying to be my fan just so they can wrongfully report me.

I'm level 6. I love the fact that I have met so many wonderful people here. Some, about 6, I have maintained a long time friendship with and we e-mail each other all the time. There's nothing better than making new friends.

I hate it when you get reported for answers just because someone doesn't like it. I hate the fact that Yahoo is so automated, their responses to our refutes never changes. IE. "Thank you for your response, yahoo is looking into it" Bull, That's the one thing I hate about Yahoo. Even though you tell them what you said in your answer was not wrong, they don't' care and nothing is done,.\

Why do I keep coming back? There are a lot of intelligent people who answer and I have learned a lot. I like to feel that my opinions will help someone else. My expertise lie in medicine and nursing. I enjoy getting best answer because I know I helped someone. Yeah, I was going to stop answering once because I was so fed up the way Yahoo works with "reports", but then I figured, Why should I give in to stupidity?

    - I am a big fan because I think it is a karma site. Help others, and get help in return.

    - It also kills time at work!

    - You get to meet a lot of nice people with interesting points (and a few bad apples)

-I hate it because when I get into a serious debate in the religion & spirituality section, my account sometimes get suspended for no reason other than people report my question because it argues with their beliefs. If these posts (I'd say questions, but when you get to the higher levels, it's pretty much like a forum because you aren't worried about points) are mature the moderators should see that and let them go, not see that people randomly reported it and banned you with no explanation.

-But that's the only bad part

-I figured i was close enough to level 3 to answer ;-)

Wow just read memere's post after I posted this.. weird coincidences? I too begged for Yahoo to tell me a straight answer when I was "suspended" and I too only got automated response after automated response.
