What's my best choice for anti depressant drugs after trying the following?

Lexapro - Didnt do much

Effexor - Worked, but turned me into a raving lunatic

Wellbutrin - Didnt do much

Im thinking of going back to effexor. At least that one made me feel alive.

Update:

Thanks for all your suggestions so far. These 3 have been recommended by a pl,ethora of practicioners over the past 3 years. Chemical Inbalances FTW.

Serzone is reputed to have considerably less side effects with sexual dysfunction, and sleep. because of the problem you had with Effexor, you may possibly have a form of bipolar disorder, such as cyclothymic didorder, and should check this out with a mental health professional. Antidepressants are known to sometimes produce mania/hypomania with bipolars, and your side effect is uncommon.=================== ======================= ====================== ====================== What side effects may occur?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Effexor.

Side effects of Effexor may include:

Abnormal ejaculation/orgasm, anxiety, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, impotence, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, sleepiness, sweating, tremor, vomiting, weakness, weight loss

Talk to your Doc about Cymbalta... it's a really great med.. even better if you don't have to fight the insurance company over it....

I have been on all that you have with the exception of the Lexapro... and add celexa.... ohh and don't forget the prozac.. prozac takes me from ok to ***** in 2.2 seconds.... personally I don't recommend prozac... it's a very old med.. and has some really odd side effects for some.. like the effexor did for you...<w>

By far .. if my insurance would cover it... I'd be back on the Cymbalta in a heart beat.

    Good luck.. and take care!

After you discuss your thoughts about the Lexapro, Effexor and Wellbutrin with your doctor, you both can come up with a plan to try something else. This will depend on how you responded to these other medications.

I have taken many different antidepressants.

I have been taking Cymbalta for a few years.

It seems to be helping. Good Luck. I hope you find what works best for you.

Try, try, and try some more. I have been on countless combinations of meds till I found something that made me feel "normal".

You have to have a Dr. who is in on the newer meds and will suggest what he thinks is best. You should not have to ask strangers what medicine is good.....That is what a GOOD Dr. is there for.

I am just guessing but I think you need to be asking a good qualified psychiatrist these questions. Medications affect people so different. How do you know you need to be on them, like what is your history etc. There are many unanswered questions in this deal. Blessing

I'd consider one of the typical, popular antidepressants as they tend to work well for many people. Zoloft or prozac is where I'd start.

    Wow

    You never tried Prozac?

That's the one that takes everyone's pill popping virginity when it comes to anti-depressents
