To accept the truth that one is average and ordinary, that a lot of people are better when it comes to looks...then this person would focus more in developing his/her inner and outer personality---like attitude, bearing, style, individuality, etc. which are equally if not more important and more captivating than just looks.

I know a young actress who is on top of her league...she is so charming. She said she's been attending auditions to be a movie star since she was very little. There are always "hundreds" or "thousands" of girls in the audition and lots of them are Caucasian or Caucasian-Chinese looking filipinas which is considered beautiful in the Phils. , while this girl looks very Malay-South East Asian which is often not considered beautiful or pretty in our standards. Her father always reminds her not to project or focus that she's beautiful because if he has to count all the beautiful ladies in that room from top to bottom, her daughter ranks 807th....LOL. Her father told her to project confidence instead...to show to the judges that she's got spunk and life and not just face. This lady is now very popular and very talented in everything she does.

looks are not important at all.

being said that half of the population

devotes their time to a mirror, this is sad.

looks do not devine our inner being.

and if people think they will change

their look by looking in a mirror every 5 seconds,

well then that is even worse.

god gave us our faces so we can indulge in them,

and someone out there finds someones features

extreamly adorable. The fact that people

ignore this is depressing. The nature of people

is what keeps people beautiful- but when you

hide this- it really is a shame.

Botox! Plastic surgery. Laser surgery. Cosmetic dentistry.

At least, those seem to be the current solutions. Sad, really. Maybe someday western culture will be obsessed not with self-acceptance and Hollywood, but other-acceptance and the Heart. We can hope, right?

get rid of all the mirrors - I stopped worrying when I got a no .1 haircut and wore exactly the same clothes every day - Sometimes I felt the need to tell people it was a fresh grey Tee shirt I was wearing and I had a cup[board full of the same

I think for me it was the realisation of what an effort it was to try to be presentable for others not for myself - It was so good to let it go as I have never been in the competition just trying not to get talked about.

The reason is peer pressure! So, if we can ignore that, we might be on the way to a society that favors, ability, likability, generosity. All adverts, whether, TV, radio, magazines - are all peer pressure. Buy this, that and another, and you don't need any of it.

    Peace.

  • there is none. because we feel the need to obsess over our looks due to society and others judging people by the way they present their appearance rather than by their personalities.

yes you can change your own view on yourself but you can't possibly change the rest of the worlds view on people

In the future everyone will be the same skin color and share at least some of the same genes. Everyone will eventually look the same.
