How do I extract large weeds from my yard?

I just bought a house and the backyard has large weeds in it. What is the best way to get rid of them and what would I use?

    Use Roundup! It's a weed killer!*

    Pull them by hand if they aren't too many. Use a broad-spectrum weed killer to get things under control. Aerate your lawn to help encourage the grass to grow. Good grass growth is key to weed prevention.

    mow it or have it mown with a lawn tractor and start using a weed and feed fertilizer...you may have to have the ground turned under..and then use the weed killer..depends on how bad it is
