Why do people claim to be Texas cops when they don't know Texas law?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuROk...

Two people claimed to be Texas cops and said that warnings are not part of your record. Verbal warning are not part of your record, but there are also written warnings which remain part of your driving record for a year. If you are stopped for the same offense within a year, any other officer can see that you've already received a warning. So WHY would 'alleged' Texas cops give erroneous information?

Traffic Warnings do not go into the Texas DPS data base for driver's license checks. A record of the warning would go into the data base of the department that issued you the warning. If an officer in one part of the state ran a check on your driving record it would show not show a warning from another part of the state. If you received a warning from a department and then was pulled over again by that same department (or another department that uses the same data base) then your warning would show up.

Some departments do share data bases. They are normally smaller agencies that share dispatching.

I don't know about Texas but your definition of record might be different then theirs. To me, a cop for 29 years, record means your rap sheet. Not a simple notation about a stop on a state computer.

I'm in another state and if I stop you I can retrieve your Texas record which will show me arrests, convictions and serviceable warrants.

Even though I can get your Texas drivers license info and registration info I do not have access to their warning info. They do not have access to ours since it is not a "record". It is a notation.

They don't go on your driving record (like the other guy said) but the police still have that warning the y gave you down in their records for safe keeping.

They do not go on your "driving record". They do remain in the records of the police department. They are two different things.
