DIY Septum Piercing?
Spare me the junk about messed up DIY piercings or "get a professional" or whatever else. I have done my navel, tongue web, and both nipples myself, which all turned out wonderful without any infections.
I am at a new stage in my life, and I want a septum piercing to represent that- My mother would never sign for a facial piercing (i'm sixteen) so i'd like to do it myself.
I have a 14g hollow needle (that fits a 16g piece of jewelry), that was sterilized in an autoclave.
I sat in front of a mirror and attempted to push it slowly through my sweet spot- after hearing the first layer of skin break, my eye watered and i panicked and took the needle out.
How can I mentally/physically prep myself for this? I went slow with my other DIYs, and i liked that other then blindly driving it through.
Should I do an 18g and slowly stretch it up, for comfort?
would i be better off shoving it through quickly using septum forceps to help guide it?

Well, I plan on getting my septum done in a couple of weeks but am going for a 16g needle. I don't want anything bigger.
So maybe starting off smaller is a good idea.
If you went slow with the other ones, then do it for this too.
Every time I get a piercing, I just have to keep reminding myself that "Pain is weakness leaving the body"- haha. (Yes, I am in the military!)- but it really does help! And I get like a "high" from feeling the needle go in. Such an adrenaline rush :)
Good Luck with doing it yourself....I couldn't do it!

Wow. I can't really answer the ACTUAL question to this, but a good majority of my friends have septum piercings, and I've gone with a few of them to get them - it's one of those quick piercings that need to be done fast, and then the pain comes a few minutes later.
It's one I honestly wouldn't recommend doing myself, despite your other piercings done yourself, especially because of the location and everything..I'd really wait it out or find someone that could do it for me.

yes, pierce it with an 18g.
i had mine pierced with a 14g needle, and i teared up and bled all over the place.
just take lots of deep breaths before, and exhale as you push it through.

Fast and sweet.
It'll hurt way more if you do it slowly.
Good luck, and you have way more balls than I do, I tip my hat in your general direction, sir.
