I had mirena for 9 months and never stopped bleeding. It was such a horrible experience for me. I got it out April first and I am currently ttc baby number 2. I have researched this quite a bit. When you have mirena, it does not stop your ovulation like birth control pills do. Birth control pills alter your hormones where as mirena does not. You can have mirena removed and be extremely fertile that same day. It took me a while to start my period so i was concerned about that, but finally started. I have mad a calendar of my cycle and when i ovulate and i am exactly on track. It is best when you are ttc to have sex every other day throughout the entire month just to make sure you cover your basis. Even though mirena may not alter you hormones, this does not mean that you are ovulating when you think you are. Having sex every other day gives his sperm count a day in between to recharge. Just remember that it does not take you any time after having mirena removed to become fertile again. If you still have mirena in, you need to have it removed if you are ttc (not sure if you are saying you are ttc and still have the IUC in place).GOOD LUCK!!!

Well I had my IUD accidently snatched out during a colposcopy last Oct. I refused to get a new one after that. Im might be pregnant now with baby #3, so if I am it will have taken me 7 months. I was hospitalized around that same time for something else, and one of the nurses there told me that she had recently conceived and it took her and her husband 18 months. I've read that some people get pregnant within months. I said all that to say, you never can tell. It really depends on the person. I hope that helps a little.
