How do I know if I am over watering or under watering plants?

I have planted seeds in a few planters. The plants are not flowering yet (impatients and bacholers buttons), and they look very "sad" and droopy. How do I know if I am under watering them or over watering them. The dirt always seems dry, and I've been watering them about 5 times per week.

Overwatering is probably the most common cause of plant death. Overwatering deprives the roots of water and causes them to rot. It's important not to confuse the symptoms of over and underwatering. Both cause plant death, but an underwatered plant will have brown, crisp leaves while an overwatered plant's leaves are usually yellow and wilted.

Water is like a big magnifying Mirror..it reflects said light down down to the depths to where light can travel. always, Ladyitch p.s. Seaweed is one of those "plants" that are underwater ~ as is a lot of things that are known to grow under water! ((((seals)))) <3

If you planted them from seeds, I would purchase a meter sold in the big box stores. It's in the garden suplly area. It will tell you how moist the soil is. Use thls every couple of days until you're sure that they are getting the proped amount of moisture. Then, just your watering accordingly. Usually, overwatering can cause the damage you mention. Underwatering usually tends to dry out the plants, much like we get when we get dehydrated.

    Hi,

A common question, what I would suggest is that you replant the seeds and again water the seeds.

This time take a clear plastic trash bag and put the planters in it. Then place the bag with the planter in it sheltered shade.

After about a couple of weeks the plants should be popping up. Just keep the soil moist during this period.

    Good Luck

You may want to open the bag every two or three days to let fresh air in. Then seal it up.

After about a week new plants should be occurring.

Depending on how hot the sun is, they could be frying. You only need to water them about two times a week after the sun goes down. Over watering them will cause them to mold and they will die. Don,t give them too much sun either. They only need about 6 hours a day or situate them in a semi shady area.

have you pinched them back so they bush out?are they getting adequate sun?impatiens like partial sun and buttons like full sun.

If they're in the sun you should probably water them everyday and if they're not in the sun try putting them there so they get more sunlight. It depends a lot on the weather. If it has been cold then they may not grow as fast. Good luck

The besy way to know is to call a garden nursery and ask them.
